YOU TUBE BANS MUNICIPAL WASTE'S 'HEADBANGER FACE RIP' GORE CLIP
The video for the MUNICIPAL WASTE track 'Headbanger Face Rip' has been banned by You Tube. Filmed by the legendary 80s cult splatter/horror independent film company Troma Entertainment, the 'gore version' of the recording has been deemed by You Tube to have content which is inappropriate.
This banned version of the track features the legendary Troma style blood, guts and gore seen in many of their genre-defining B-movie style shock flicks, which fit well with Municipal Waste's outrageous party attitude. Fans who still want to watch this controversial version of the track can still view it online here and the TV-friendly recording can still be viewed on YouTube here. The track, taken from the latest release 'The Art Of Partying' was filmed by the legendary 80s cult splatter/horror independent film company Troma Entertainment and features such Troma characters as the Toxic Avenger and Kabukiman.
The video featured on YouTube is a TV-friendly version, (YouTube banned the gore version this weekend), but here on earache.com weve got the alternate version featuring Troma's genre-defining, all-out gore-tastic take on 'Headbanger Face Rip', involving blood, guts and the legendary Troma-style shlock horror effects. "I am fucking stoked on the great job that TROMA has done on Headbanger Face Rip!! I think that it has a little something for everyone out there that likes to party - Gore,Tits and the fucking waste!"
Troma's Lloyd Kaufman has commented upon the partnership between the Richmond thrashers and Troma's unique style, stating:
"It seems fitting that Municipal Waste would ask the Troma Team to make a video for 'Headbanger Face Rip', as we've been ripping faces off on film for over 30 years!".

MUNICIPAL WASTE COMPLETES FILMING "HEADBANGER FACE RIP" MUSIC VIDEO WITH TROMA ENTERTAINMENT
MUNICIPAL WASTE recently joined together with Troma Entertainment to complete a music video for “Headbanger Face Rip,” one of the many blistering tracks featured on the band’s latest release, The Art of Partying
Have you ever wondered how good of a guitar player the Toxic Avenger is? What do you think would happen when Sgt. Kabukiman, NYPD meets “The Inebriator”? All those on set for this momentous occasion know and soon, so will the world.
Shot primarily on bluescreen, Troma made sure to film MUNICIPAL WASTE in just about every angle imaginable so the maximum amount of thrash could be experienced by all. When not playing for the camera, they played it UP for the camera, donning white jumpsuits and officially becoming members of the Toxic Crusaders. No one in the room was running on much sleep, nor was fueled by much food, so to see the band play as hard as they did in front of the hot, blinding studio lights is a testament to MUNICIPAL WASTE’s ability to thrash before all else.
After he band had wrapped shooting their individual parts, it was time to film 3 of the finest creations ever to come out of the warped minds of Troma. The Toxic Avenger, Sgt. Kabukiman, NYPD and a newer Troma character (now a band favorite), Poultrygeist thrashed around the set like there was no tomorrow. It goes to show that MUNICIPAL WASTE can fuck up even the most seasoned of oddities.
As the day wore down, all notions of this being a professional shoot went out the window, especially when the beer arrived. The shoot turned into a giant party that just happened to be filmed. With MUNICIPAL WASTE around, you never know what’s going to happen and soon Sgt. Kabukiman, NYPD found out the hard way as he fell victim to the most monstrous beer bong of all time, Tony Waste’s “The Inebriator.”
After some group shots and the filming of a brief scene involving MUNICIPAL WASTE’s tour van, the day was done. In the end, as is usually the case wherever MUNICIPAL WASTE goes, a raging good time was had by all. The way that Troma Entertainment and MUNICIPAL WASTE worked together was like a match made in thrash heaven. They’ve accomplished to shoot a video that will surely be as fun to watch as it was to be on set for. The video will be so fun, in fact, that you won’t just watch, you will be compelled to jump out of your seat and MOSH!
Keep your eyes peeled for the music video for MUNICIPAL WASTE’s “Headbanger Face Rip,” coming soon to screens everywhere.
“Headbanger Face Rip” can be found on MUNICIPAL WASTE’s latest release, The Art of Partying, out on July 31 in the US, available on the store links below.

Drummer, Dave Witte Joins The Vic Firth Family
Some of the world’s most talented drummers exclusively use Vic Firth sticks as their tools of choice for raging around the kit. Carmine Appice, Terry Bozzio, Thomas Haake, Danny Carey and Thomas Lang are a few of the illustrious names that are on Vic Firth’s stable of artists. You can now add one more name to that list, as MUNICIPAL WASTE’s Dave Witte has joined the Vic Firth family.
You name it and Dave Witte has done it. Earning chops, props and respect is a hard thing to attain as a musician, but Dave Witte has earned everything 100% and has earned it through good old fashioned hard work.  One of the most well-rounded drummers in his field, Witte has earned plenty of praise from critics and fans alike by being the man behind the kit for DISCORDANCE AXIS, BURNT BY THE SUN and MELT BANANA. Currently, Witte helms the skins for Virginia thrashers, MUNICIPAL WASTE where he takes the definition of “Thrash” to new levels with his blinding speeds and humorous presence on ‘Hazardous Mutation’ and ‘The Art of Partying.’

With his reputation like his, Vic Firth was indeed very excited to add a quality name like Witte’s to their roster. Marco Soccoli, Director of Artist Relations Worldwide at Vic Firth said the following about this momentous occasion: “We are proud to have Dave as part of the Vic Firth family, he's a great drummer and a great addition to our family of drummers.”

From now on, you’ll only see Dave Witte drum with Vic Firth’s Rock N series sticks, a fact that Witte is extremely proud of.

“A drum stick endorsement through Vic Firth has finally happened after many years and I couldn’t be happier. I am now sworn to the Vic Firth Rock N and I feel the sticks are the ultimate connection between me and my drums.”

Get an earful of Dave Witte’s drumming on MUNICIPAL WASTE’s ‘Hazardous Mutation’ and ‘The Art of Partying’ (available NOW in the UK, July 31 in the USA) on EARACHE.COM

On a recent tour date in Canada, MUNICIPAL WASTE sat down with David Perri of DigitalMetal.com to talk about touring, “Hazardous Mutation,” and much more! The interview is as follows:
Check out the original interview here.

MUNICIPAL WASTE INTERVIEW – by David Perri

DigitalMetal: Hazardous Mutation received a lot of positive response from both critics and fans alike. What are your thoughts on all the accolades?
Tony Foresta: We’re stoked, man. It’s a good thing. We worked our asses off on that record. How many years was it between Waste ‘Em All and Hazardous Mutation?
Ryan Waste: Two years, at least.
TF: Yeah, like two or three years.
RW: Well, that’s with line-up changes and everything. The record went really fast with the new line-up, when we got Dave and Land Phil (bass) things went really quickly. When they joined the band, we blazed it out and the intensity was there. It came together really well and the energy was there so it happened fast.
TF: The response has been really good. This line-up is still really fresh to us and we’re ready for the next record. We think the next record is going to be even better. We’re such a tight unit now.
RW: We can just start putting ‘em out now.
Dave Witte: We’re working really hard on new material and it’s funny because this March or April coming up it’ll be two years that we recorded Hazardous Mutation. We’ve been on tour since so it’s gone by really fast.
TF: We’ve been touring our asses off.
RW: Hazardous Mutation isn’t even new to us at this point; it’s a year old. But it’s still fresh to a lot of people and a lot of people are still finding out about it, so were excited.

DigitalMetal: The song-writing is top notch, do you guys end up discarding a lot of riffs?
RW: It used to be that I was alone writing songs on Waste ‘Em All. It was pretty much there’s the riffs, and then we wrote the songs. This time me and Phil got together and had time to bounce riffs off each other and then we presented them to Tony and Dave. And then we pieced them together with Dave with all the transitions. Sometimes we had a concept for our lyrics that we had been sitting on for a while and then Tony would write some lyrics on his wrist.
TF: Yeah, I write lyrics on my wrist! (laughs) That’s probably one of the hardest things about writing the fucking songs, what we’re going to write about. I know it seems like our songs are stupid and simple, but we’ve got concept songs, man! (laughs)
RW: We’re like that dude who really puts a lot of time into his essay to make it the best shit. (laughs)
TF: But it is the best shit! It is! (laughs) I’m the lyrical miracle. Print that, I’m the lyrical miracle!

DigitalMetal: So when’s the concept album? When’s the Operation: Mindcrime?
TF: Soon! Wasted Space is coming at you in 20 009. Yeah, not 2009, 20 009.
RW: That’s like, very far away. Like, we’ll have lasers.
DW: We’re going to record in no gravity, and have those lasers.
TF: We’re going to take Virgin Spacecrafts Airline and record that shit in space.

DigitalMetal: You guys get called crossover all the time which, really, describes the band best. How do you feel when you’re called ‘80s crossover?
RW: That’s cool. It mixes our two favorite genres, metal and hardcore, so it’s cool. But it’s not metalcore. The shit they call metalcore is not metal and hardcore, it’s just whack. (laughs) And that’s all I have to say about that. We’ve got the speed of hardcore and the metal riffing.

DigitalMetal: It’s like you guys are thrash meets Minor Threat.
TF: Yeah, damn right. I love hardcore. And I love fucking metal.
RW: I like the aggression of hardcore and the tightness of metal, but without drawing out the metal and making them stupid long songs. With us, it’s just get in there, beat your ass, and get out.

DigitalMetal: Furthering the Minor Threat connection is your track “Guilty Of Being Tight”, a play on Minor Threat’s “Guilty Of Being White”.
DW: That song, we recorded it and we were like, “Yeah, it’s good” and we didn’t even listen back to it. It was one take, just one take.

DigitalMetal: The majority of the tracks on Hazardous Mutation are fast. Fast tracks are awesome. Are faster songs what you guys prefer, personally?
RW: Everyone loves the fast tracks.
TF: Dude, we just have short attention spans!
RW: Playing fast is the most aggressive way to express yourself.
DW: It gets the blood flowing, it gets the blood pumping.
TF: When I do power-squats at the gym, I listen to our music. Man, those power-squats are awesome! Like crisp lettuce. Crisp. Lettuce. Crisp lettuce, that’s an inside joke. And, dude, we will steam-roll you with inside jokes ‘cos, like I said, we’ve got short attention spans! (laughs)

DigitalMetal: The tracks also have big hooks. Are big choruses important to you guys?
RW: I like big hooks. And man, I like music you can fuckin’ rock out to. Fist pumping level is at slow as it gets. Never slow, all go.
DW: I like all music. I love a record you can come back to a year or two years later and still fucking get the same thing from it. And with the hooks and catchiness you mentioned, you can do that.

DigitalMetal: So many bands these days are playing ‘80s thrash in an ironic way. What are your thoughts on this trend?
RW: You can call us throwback and all that. I think we’ve taken it and done our own things with it, if I can be so bold. I think other bands are copying us. We want to write music that you can put on with the older bands that we grew up with. And there’s tons of Canadian stuff: Razor, Sacrifice, Slaughter, Annihilator, Voivod... I met (ex-Voivod bass player) Blacky tonight, man. He was at the show and he was a really nice guy. There are tons of Canadian bands that are an influence.
TF: And Rush! Don’t forget Rush.
RW: We do love Rush.
DW: They can call us whatever. I grew up with this music and I’ve always wanted to play it and I could never find people who wanted to play this style. Then I just happened to move to Richmond (Virginia) and these guys said, “What’s up?” so we started.
TF: We’re not ironic, but we’re also not serious. We’re not going up there trying to teach a lesson or something. We’re just having fun.
RW: Believe it or not, we’re not the most serious people in the world. (laughs)
DW: I’ve played in a lot of bands, and this is the most fun I’ve ever had in a band. Municipal Waste Fan Who Drove 12 Hours From New Brunswick To Montreal To See The Band (aka Random Dude): This sound is empowering. It’s empowerment.
TF: Empowerment!

DigitalMetal: What are the goals with the band? What do you guys want to accomplish?
RW: We want to go to Japan. It should be happening soon, hopefully. We want to go to every fucking land in the world.
TF: We want to write the best record possible.
RW: The next record is going to bust our ass.
TF: Everyone in the band has a set focus on writing a great new record. We’re going to do this tour and then we’re going to tour with Destruction and Sadus and then we’re going to fucking write the best record.
RW: We’re going to out-do ourselves. And we’re not going to over-compensate with speed, either. It’s just going to be in your face on every level and more intense.
DW: It’s going to be a progression. And it’s going to be a personal challenge for each one of us.
TF: We’re going to have everything on it. Rap, jazz, all kinds of shit.

DigitalMetal: So it’s going to be DJ Municipal Waste, no doubt.
TF: Yeah man, we’re going to write chill-out music.

DigitalMetal: Is the next record going to come out on Earache?
TF: Oh yeah. We got shit-faced with Digby, the guy who owns the label and we told him the new record was going to be slow, with no solos and we totally convinced Digby we were going to do a funk record. It was hilarious. And, man, I am going to rap about Earache on the new record.

DigitalMetal: Let’s hear it. Free-style it.
TF: Ok, it goes like this…

(Author’s Note: Tony totally free-styles it and makes everyone laugh with his dope rhymes. Unfortunately, the batteries in the tape recorder die out and the rest of this gem of an interview is lost forever. Fuckin’ batteries. But long live the Waste!)

MUNICIPAL WASTE drummer Dave Witte receives Trick Products endorsement
MUNICIPAL WASTE drumnmer, Dave Witte, is known throughout the world as a fine talent and has worked with genre bending bands such as BURNT BY THE SUN and MELT BANANA. MUNICIPAL WASTE are excited to announce that Dave Witte has been endorsed by Trick Drums and the New Trick Pro1-V Bass Drum Pedal, which Dave boasts is "the fastest and smoothest pedal on the market."
The New Trick Pro1-V Bass Drum Pedal recently was reviewed in an edition of Modern Drummer, see here: www.trickdrums.com, which confirms that the pedal offers "smooth, responsive action."
Trick Products president Mike Dorfman states: "Trick Drums chose to endorse Dave Witte for two very important reasons, first his remarkable, undisputed talent for playing the drums and second for the respect he's earned amongst his fellow musicians which makes Dave a very effective ambassador for Trick products worldwide." Record Release a huge Success!
The antics at the record release party for Municipal Waste's Earache debut 'Hazardous Mutation' reached an all time high for the band according to reports from vocalist Tony Forresta and guitarist Ryan Waste.
"It was ridiculously out of control," said Ryan Waste, "one of the best Waste shows ever." Sightings of Topless female stage divers, Reverse Tony's singing songs, Wizards, boogie boards, and pizzas are among some of the reports we've received regarding this festival of complete mayhem.
"We ordered like 10 large pizzas and handed them out to the crowd to eat while we were playing and shit", said Forresta when asked about some of the special surprises the band had for the show.
As always, the stagedive levels were brought to the extreme by fans of the Waste and the band lent a little hand in making it even better, providing spring boards for fans to launch off of to get a better dive going.
"At a few points I had to just sit back and drink a beer on the side and watch all the mayhem going on onstage because there was so many people up there." The traditional appearance of beer bongs during Municipal Waste's set continued but led to a little bit of a safety issue for stagedivers, "There was definitely a lot of spilled beer on stage, it was slippery as shit and people would be running for a stage dive and slip and end up face first on the floor in a puddle of beer," stated Tony.
No doubt a great way to celebrate Municipal Waste's 'Hazardous Mutation' making its appearance on wax through Earache, the show was one fans will always remember. A Special thanks to everyone who came down to the show and everyone that helped make it a great night for Municipal Waste. For those of you who weren't able to make it out to the show to pick up the sweet limited vinyl the band had for the show, have no fear! the band's debut album for Earache.
Recorded in The Waste's hometown of Richmond, Virginia, by Corey Smoot (aka Flattus of Gwar), "Hazardous Mutation" features the debut of new drummer Dave Witte (Burnt By The Sun, Discordance Axis), and is highly recommended for fans of the early works of DRI, Nuclear Assault, and Corrosion Of Conformity. "Hazardous Mutation" features cover art by the one and only master of all thrash artwork, Ed Repka, best known for his work for Megadeth.

"What the fuck? Why did the best party record of all time have to come out now instead of the first week of June? It would have made the summer of '05 the stuff of legend".

Drummer Dave Witte Joins The Waste!
Metal/hardcore drummer extraordinnaire Dave Witte has officially joined Richmond thrash-core squad Municipal Waste. Revered in underground circles from the US to Japan, Witte has hit the skins for such bands as Human Remains, Discordance Axis, Melt-Banana and Burnt By The Sun.

With ballistic thrash riffs, irreverent punk attitude, and a healthy dose of humor, Municipal Waste are the heirs to the "crossover" legacy; their blazing brand of thrash-infested hardcore revives the spirit of the mid-80's scene, from DRI to Suicidal Tendencies to old COC.

Municipal Waste frontman Tony Foresta had this to say:
"Dave Witte has officially joined the band and is now our full time drummer. We're halfway through with writing material for the new album and things have been going a lot faster than ever."

Witte declares:
"I am an ultra whirlwind holocaust attack, stoked to join The Waste. It's a thrill to be a part of a band that is fun. Expect some serious thrashin' action."

Earache New Signing: Municipal Waste
Earache is proud to announce its newest signing: Municipal Waste.
Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Municipal Waste are the reigning kings of the New Wave of Crossover. Municipal Waste deliver blazing fast, raw thrash-core in the tradition of DRI, Suicidal Tendencies, "Animosity"-era Corrosion Of Conformity, Nuclear Assault and Attitude Adjustment. All barely in their 20's, the members of Municipal Waste inject youthful energy and humor into a classic genre they were too young to catch the first time around.

With a self-titled EP on Amendment Records, an LP entitled "Waste 'Em All" on Six Weeks Records, and several splits and comps under their belts, Municipal Waste have quickly established themselves as the leaders of a fast-growing scene of bands resurrecting the spirit of the mid-80's Crossover scene.

Fast, furious, and funny, each of Municipal Waste's super-short songs is a memorable anthem to post-apocalyptic mutants, beer, thrash music, or all of the above. The band's dedication is deadly serious yet they are not afraid to bring the fun back into hardcore. Bashing out songs with such titles as "Thrashing's My Business And Business Is Good", "Thrash? Don't Mind If I Do", and "Drunk As Shit", (as well as a split EP whose songs were all based on Kurt Russell films), Muncipal Waste have earned themselves the tag of "party thrash".

Rumors of Municipal Waste's awesome live shows have spread from coast to coast and across the world; the band departs on their first European tour this month. Upon their return to the states, Municipal Waste will begin work on their Earache debut.

Says Earache US boss Al Dawson:
"The Waste are a great match for Earache since they're inspired by some of the very earliest Earache bands. They're bringing a whole new level of energy to a classic style of music and making it relevant to a whole new generation of punk, hardcore, and metal fans."

Municipal Waste had this to say:
"We're bloody chuffed to be working with Earache. Expect nothing short of a raging, toxic, high-speed thrash assault!"
