| Formed from the ashes of several local MI bands, And Hell Followed With has been progressing and pushing themselves to the top of not only the Michigan music scene, but of the entire US death metal and hardcore scene for the past 2 years. Never having had anything handed to them, AHFW has overcome arduous lineup changes, van issues, money issues, conflicting members, and the many other problems that young bands encounter. AHFW has overcome all the obstacles that life has thrown at them, and the members finally have centered themselves around a comfortable writing style and set of core members to best showcase the band's vast influences. Combining the heart and intensity of hardcore with the gritty, brutal sound and dark themes of death metal/black metal, AHFW strives for excellence in what can at times, seem like a stagnant scene. Creating a strong fan-base that stretches from the Midwest to the West Coast, And Hell Followed With has forced their way into the many different scenes that blanket the country by always bringing a sheer sense of intensity on stage with them, wherever. Having recently toured the midwest and west coast, And Hell Followed With have no intentions of resting or slowing down any time soon. With the recent release of their debut full length album "Domain", AHFW plan on continuously touring the US for the time being to promote this new album. INTERVIEW: Introduce yourselves and your positions in the band. Nick - Vocals Kyle - Guitar Pat - Guitar Andrew - Bass Billy - Drums Where are you all based and how long have you been together? Flint, Saginaw and Detroit, Michigan. We have been together just over a year now. Whats life like in Detroit, Michigan? Is it a good place to live? What goes on there of interest? Aside from the economy sucking, it's a good city. The suburbs are nice, the city can get a little rough, but some parts are awesome. Mostly what goes on here are people in camouflage shooting animals. Where did you get the name and what does it mean? Even though the Johnny Cash song "The Man Comes Around" quoting Revelations. We got the idea from watching the Dawn of the Dead Remake. Who are your main influences? Despised Icon, Misery Signals, Hate Eternal, At the Gates. What are your opinions on the current extreme Metal scene. Do you think its healthy? Honestly the scene seems like its going downhill. Lots of kids fighting over large egos and musical tastes. What are you doing differently and what makes you stand out? We like to think that our live show carries a pretty good energy. Our writing style seems to have different flavors musically as well. What subjects do your songs cover? Are you into gore? Political matters? Real life issues? What drives your music? Nick says "Cadaverous sodomy, warfare, zombies, werewolves, and suicide." If you could choose one band to tour with who would it be? SlipKnot... Seriously. What are the plans for the Earache debut? What can we expect from it? Expect a whole new sound. A very fresh, and devastating line of music. You have a lot of tour dates coming up. Are you a hard touring band and where do you aspire to tour? We are a very hard touring band.. Every single corner of the planet is the destination. What do you do outside of music. Do any of you have any interesting hobbies or passions? We're every day sort of dudes. Lots of video games, pizza, and 90's action films. Whos the maddest fan youve ever met at a show. Any nutters? No complete nutters. But there was this one girl who ate her own lipstick and kept talking to us, and would not leave us alone with red teeth. Weirdo. Have you had any crazy experiences on the road? One time our transmission shit the bed 3,000 miles away from home while going 70 mph. After that we bummed around a town that smelled like cow shit for two days. Thankfully our friends in Suffokate came and rescued us. Even though on the way to Oakland, California we almost flipped the mini van that they came to pick us up in. What a crazy day. Have any of you ever met anyone really famous? Nick met Bruce Campbell. Are any of you straight edge or do you all like to party? Nick and Kyle are both straight edge. Pat, Billy, and Andrew fancy a good party. Though, the two straight edge guys are more likely to be naked and out of control. Name your 5 fave old school death metal acts and why (they DON'T have to be Earache acts!!) Decapitated, Death, Deicide, Bathory, and Nile. Mostly because each one of those bands is responsible for reshaping metal today. What jobs do you have outside the band? Kyle works for a company that fabricates plastic.. Which includes making missile parts and other cool stuff. Pat works at Pennzoil changing oil and giving out rim-jobs, Andrew works at Guitar Center as a guitar salesman and giving rim-jobs. Have any of you ever had any run ins with the law? Nick has been arrested for inciting a riot because he threw a handful of sod during Megadeth.. He also got in trouble for writing the word "PoopShit" on a stranger's car. What a class act. Has anyone in the band had a near death experience or serious injury? Yes, We almost flipped a mini van down the side of a mountain when Ricky and Taylor from Suffokate came and picked us up when our van broke down. Do you get in the Mosh pit or stand at the side? Kyle and Nick fancy a good moshing. The rest, however. Just give rim-jobs. Whats the most surreal moment to happen in your life? Honestly not to sound cliche, signing with Earache Records. You guys appear to live and breath Metal. What would people be surprised to hear about you? We love kittens and puppies. We also enjoy alot of nonmetal music. What are your political stances? Were you all happy with the Election of Barack Obama? No. Cthulu should have won. Why chose the lesser evil? Are any of you big sport fans? American Football, Soccer, Baseball etc? Go Pistons, go Red Wings, and that one team Barry Sanders used to be on. Name your 5 desert island discs Tool - Parabola, Cynic - Traced in Air, Misery Signals - Controller, Story of the Year - Page Avenue, The Black Dahlia Murder - Miasma. |
